Rove Lumps Obama With Joe Camel

2008 June 24

Ahhhh, the Republican race to cast Obama as an elitist has begun; first to fire a shot is Karl Rove. In an interview yesterday Rove said about Obama:

Even if you never met him, you know this guy…He’s the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by.

Rove also described Obama as “cooly arrogant.” In his attempt to smack Obama as elitist, he has in fact compared him… to Joe Camel; evidenced above. Other essential ironies in his pathetic attempt to pin Obama to a snobbish stereotype:

  1. The mastermind of 2 presidential campaigns based on American morals advertising Joe Camel stereotypes as cool.
  2. Rove gave this statement at the Capitol Hill Club, a social club for elite GOP members.
  3. The rocky history of black men at country clubs.

No worries though, the Obama camp had a comeback for Rove. The Obama communications director, Gibbs, was on Morning Joe today, and he had some knock-outs. Lets see them.

  1. “I would think a guy who came to Washington eight years ago and talked about how his version of the Republican party would take over the country for years and years to come, might have cornered the market on arrogance to a degree that not many people have seen before.”
  2. “I would be willing to bet you that Karl Rove hung out in the lounge of a country club a lot more often than Barack Obama has.”
  3. “His president right now, his approval ratings hover somewhere around the national drinking age.”
  4. “I think if people look at the arc of the Bush presidency and where this thing has ended up, we have had a disastrous foreign policy, our economy is in shambles, our debt and our deficit have skyrocketed. It’s really hard to list one or two things that Karl Rove did right over eight years. So, you know, I’ll let him do his lecture circuits and coin little phrases, but, it seems like a silly thing.”

If you would like to watch video of the rebuttal, catch it here.

Rovian tactics for getting idiots elected number 1:

Make the election about the opponent’s image, not the issues.

    number 2:

Trash the opponent’s image as much as possible with lies and propaganda because you know there are enough idiotic people in the U.S. to believe it.

    number 3:

Make everyone afraid of what will happen if your candidate doesn’t win. For example, “Sadam Hussein will rise from the dead and redo 9/11 if Obama wins”.

It may also help if you can put out the kind of rhetoric that makes 50% of Americans believe something stupid about the world like Iraq being behind 9/11.

I find it hilarious that republicans are trying to make Obama look like an elite when the guy grew up dirt poor, made a career of working the poor in Chicago, and then made all of his money on his own. Erstwhile real elitists, such as John McCain, just skip the earning the money on your own part and marry a rich woman that just inherited millions of dollars.

The sad part is that people are buying it…

Generally speaking, the idea of blogging is to present coherent ideas, not just to repeat tired Kos rants.

    Please Steve,

Gosh, wow, millions of bloggers out there, who would of guessed from time to time we’d be bound to repeat each other.

What really makes me yawn? Snide mockery in the place of intelligent debate.
