Can The President Torture a Child?
Another fun-filled day at the House Judiciary Committee Meeting. Today they dragged in some new gutless lawyers – more of the gang which wove the legal web and punched through the loopholes which have allowed the White House to torture terrorism suspects.
The clear unease David Addington and John Yoo have in saying such simple things as, “No, its not OK to torture children,” and, “No, I don’t think the president can bury a man,” is more than just disturbing; it is truly frightening. Both of these men were legal counsel to the president and involved in creating policy.
What’s even more disturbing, the parallels between the committee’s questions and an episode of ‘24′, wherein an agent for the government stages an execution of a boy to get answers out of a suspect:
OK, so this isn’t real footage from 24, but I assure you the episode exists despite my inability to find footage. I have found numerous mentions of it in the past on news sites to back my own faulty memory. So, what we can conclude is that the White House is unwilling to disassociate itself from interrogation techniques used by a television homicidal maniac (albeit one fighting terrorism).
Great. Makes me feel all warm inside.
