McCain directly tied to Enron and our high gas prices

2008 August 19

Sometimes I downright hate Keith Olbermann, but sometimes he redeems himself with these whoppers. He must have some great people working for him. Watch the video all the way through, I beg of you. These connections are rarely discussed in the news media and are again more elements of McCain’s past that need to be widely known.

Honestly, there are few words that are more sour for Americans over the past 10 years than Enron. So, can we in go conscience let a man with such deep ties to that scandal get away with running for, much less winning, the presidency?

Watch it twice, if you like.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I definitely have a love/hate thing going on for Keith, erh – more like disdain/tolerate actually :-)

    nice post.

Why do you actually listen to that gasbag?? He has admitted that his reporting is blatantly liberal (proof: in the embedded clip, he only mentions Obama’s involvement for five or ten seconds after minutes upon minutes of accussing McCain). Furthermore, Phil Gramm, who according to Olbermann was essential to the whole fiasco, doesn’t even work for McCain’s campaign anymore, and I’m not entirely sure, but as much as McCain tends to replace advisors, the other two in question may not even be a part of the campaign either. And it’s foolish of you to believe Olbermann’s report, which makes McCain sound like he was the only culprit. I would venture to say 95% of D.C. politicians would not disband the Enron loop-hole if you had to make them vote right now. Do you know why? Because politicians are earning MILLIONS of dollars from lobbying firms. John McCain, on the other hand, has accepted barely any money and reports all of it like he’s supposed to. Despite what Obama and other liberals want you to believe, McCain is adamently opposed to pork-barrel spending and illegal lobbying. He’s not some puppet of the oil companies. He’s Washington’s leading opponent to earmarking bills, and since stopping the Enron loophole was attached to a bill that would cripple our nation’s farmers, that’s why McCain didn’t vote on it. There’s a huge difference between the truth and what you hear and see from idiots like Keith Olbermann.

    Olbermann is a _______ word I won’t leave in a comment.
I will say this though. KO actually seemed to buffer his rage and rhetoric to some degree by stressing some of the good points and history of McCain on the whole deal. In total though I was left feeling this was pretty much an Olbermann hit piece dedicated to satisfying the sound bite strategy that has made him popular.
I would counter part of SE response though. There are many politicians who wouldn’t vote to close the loophole not because of them getting their pockets lined but by the knowledge that doing so would cause ICE and others to go out of range offshore. Not to pimp but I’m working on something that looks into how the CFTC isn’t as hands off as some want you to think and that the beast we call bureaucracy is actually crawling towards possible solutions.
