Obama’s Babykiller Critic
An interesting sidenote to the Bruhaha over Obama’s opposition to the Illinois “Born Alive” bill (Obama’s opposition came as a concern that some of the bill’s language would undermine Roe v. Wade, not that he secretly advocates for the killing of babies born alive).
The woman who wrote and advocated for the bill has an interesting side project. Jill Stanek, advocates against condom use in AIDS ridden parts of Africa. She’s part of a group which paid for these billboards:
The person at left (not the person on top of the billboard) is supposedly the faithful condom user. My own translation of the Swahili mirrors the English, “I was a faithful condom user.”
Now, considering the authorship, do you think Obama had a right to doubt the impartiality of the legislation?

DAMN. If I had to predict who would be first in line on the Going To Hell list, that Jill chick would be first in line. How could someone be so evil?!
Obviously its more safe to never use condoms
I caught a Pope John Paul quote once which boiled down to his opposition to condoms and couples who were married when one had AIDS, to which the response was,
“Condoms are a good idea, but not God’s idea.”
God, this kind of stuff if just scary… why are subjects such as contraception and abortion even part of the political debate? Surely these should just be personal/medical issues? Luckily here in the UK, this is mostly the case, but there seems to be a growing evangelical movement who are lobbying sympathetic Members of Parliament to support their platform. British politics can be as messy and crude as it is in the states, but this has been one area we’ve been relatively lucky in the sense that there’s a pretty large consensus that feel a women’s right to chose is paramount, even if they are against the idea of abortion.
Oh, and when people don’t use condoms in third world countries, guess who are the most affected in general? Yup, women! To me, these things should be decided by women, whether in developed or developing nations… not men or politicians/religious leaders of either sex.
What cracked me up was the survey they used on the website but didn’t indicate who did it and how. From what i know surveying in East Africa on AIDS is like taking down a grizzly with a pellet gun; a lot of luck involved.
