McCain’s 9 Car motorcade to Starbucks – he deserves this

2008 August 22

I hate to keep harping on the “whoa look how rich and out of touch McCain is” issue (ok, no I don’t) but some of these things are just too good to ignore.

An article in the LA Times today discusses how the Obama campaign is “pouncing” on McCain for his forgetfulness about the number of houses he owns. But to add to the fact that McCain isn’t aware or isn’t willing to admit he has at least 10 properties is this wonderful little tidbit:

McCain, who huddled with advisors at his desert compound in Sedona, Ariz., said nothing in public. A nine-car motorcade took him to a nearby Starbucks early in the morning, where he ordered a large cappuccino. McCain otherwise avoided reporters.

I don’t really need to comment on that, do I? Way to go on the carbon footprint, bud.

A lot of people have been saying that they are annoyed by this “you’re richer and more out out of touch than I am” arguement. Typically I am an idealist when it comes to politics, so usually I would agree. But this time, the presidential election really is about change. The idea is that once Obama is president, change happens. However, right now the McCain campaign is playing straight out of the Rovian “2+2=5″ playbook, where lies and smears are the name of the game. I’m not saying Obama has to stoop to that level, but he has to push back. Hard.

These sorts of messages really hit home with voters. They are easier to understand than complex tax policy, but aren’t the hotbutton issues abused by the neo-cons for years like abortion and same-sex marriage. Obama has to take this part of the election seriously and fight hard for his win. Ultimately, that’s why these sorts of ads and arguements are going to continue, and that’s why badass Joe Biden will probably be his VP pick. It might not be the ideologically best move, but he’ll be able to fight McCain/Romney(?) tooth and nail.

So fight on, I say. This means too much not to.

I have sympathy. What if McCain forgets where he is and starts wandering around? This way he’ll probably always have a house in the area.

McCain is an idiot of the highest order – much along side his friend George Bush.

He makes getting old look really, really bad!

I think once everything does come out you will see that he has more than the 11 houses he has stated. Look at there his family lives.

And his ex-wife is still not being looked after by this twat.
