Biden’s First Line Of Attack: Hit McCain At His Kitchen Table

2008 August 23

Video of Biden’s speech in Springfield, Illinois today:

If you’re one of the sharper-eared amongst us, you probably picked on Joe’s line of attack on McCain for the upcoming election tour, post-convention.

Ladies and gentlemen, your kitchen table is like mine. You sit there at night before you put the kids — after you put the kids to bed and you talk, you talk about what you need. You talk about how much you are worried about being able to pay the bills. Well, ladies and gentlemen, that’s not a worry John McCain has to worry about. It’s a pretty hard experience. He’ll have to figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at. Folks, again, it’s not political sloganary when I say we literally can’t afford four more years of this non-energy policy written by and for the oil companies, making us more and more dependent from hostile nations on our ability to run this country and literally, not figuratively, literally putting America’s security at risk, we can’t afford four more years of a foreign policy that has shredded our alliances and sacrificed our moral standing around the world. [emphasis added]

It’s looking like the McCain’s mansions/elitism attack is going to evolve into a different form, putting even more contrast between the Arizona Senator and the everyday man. Coming from Joe Biden, this attack has teeth. Of all the U.S. Senators, Biden has the lowest net worth. McCain is the 8th wealthiest Senator before factoring in Cindy’s wealth. Biden’s wife is a schoolteacher.

So much for elitism in the Obama campaign.

The only problem with attacking McCain for how many houses he has is that nobody ever questioned that they were honestly got, and considering that his wife is rich, she could own houses that he may not even know about.

When they talk about houses though both Obama and Biden have their own house problems. Obama’s house was purchased through a questionable deal with Tony Rezko, and Biden was accused of selling his house at an inflated price to a company that lobbied him, earning him the sobriquet of the “Senator from MBNA.” Later he was the lone Democrat who championed a bill drafted with the help of MBNA that would make it more difficult for consumers to file for bankruptcy protection.

So for both Obama and Biden, it’s best not to bring up the topic of houses, and move on to other areas like energy or the economy, and so on.

William – Obama does not have a house problem.

First, McCain may not know how many houses his wife owns – how idiotic is that? He’s her husband – assets are 50/50 I am sure his name is on the titles.

Obama did not purchase his house with Rzko’s money. where did you hear that? A small parcel of land next to his house was sold to him by Rezko. ALL the paper work is legit. There is a paper trail he paid for the land with his and Michelle’s own money.

It’s as if someone you know sold you land at cost – no mark up. I know people who sell house sto people the know at little or no profit. That’s not a crime or even something worth spending energy on.

Paulette, you need to learn the facts. And the facts are that John and Cindy McCain have a prenuptial agreement. All of her assetts are hers, they are not shared. And all of the houses are owned by her, not them.

Also, all but 4 of the homes owned by Cindy McCain are investment properties, meaning other people live in them. Which makes Biden’s claim of 7 kitchen tables all the more iditoic. But I am gathering we had better get used to that from him.

Joe Biden must have pretty poor money-management skills, considering the millions he has taken from Washington lobbyists over the last three and a half decades that he’s been in the Senate.

I was thinking that this house-gate nonsense was just meant to be a distraction while we all waited for Obama’s VP announcement. Because distration is really all it is worth.

But now it’s just making the Obama campaign look desperate. They can’t get enough of a lead by attacking the opponent’s ideas, so instead they attack his money—and his wife.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama uses his family members as human shields. So while McCain decides which kitchen table to eat at, the Obama family will be deciding which magazine cover to appear on.

Also, it would be nice if people were not so easy to “torear”. “Torear” is to wave a little red rag in front of the bull’s nose to make him lower his head for the final thing and miss the man.

The number of houses = ?

Why is the MSM in the US so afraid of exposing McCain of what he is?
What happened between McCain and his first wife:

A great example of McCain’s Christian Family Values

I wonder, the appalling Paling keeps bringing her Down Sydrome baby on to these meeting and speeches, sometimes late at night, does she even think if it is OK to bring such a kid into such a noisy environment? Sometimes the kid looks down right stressed out and frightened. I guess all that matters is the image that she can portray of herself as a loving mother and try to get votes with that image.

She is truly a user! Even of her own family! Even of her Down Syndrome kid!

And she is just using the women vote to get herself elected!

    Palin is truly Appaling!

Well the old saying, what goes around, comes around. I am sure one day McCain is going to be left for more younger handsome man. Ha….
