Call For Writers

When Mike and I initially conceived of this blog, we imagined a forum where intelligent young citizens could give a back and forth about the issues that are important to them. We had noticed that while many of the issues for our generation are the same as the last that the way that our generation asks that those politics be carried out are different, whether liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican.

However, if you want an intelligent discussion of opinions its not merely enough to post a forum topic and wait for the herds of psuedointellects to deliver their zingy one-liners and be off. What we wish to do is give young people an opportunity to give intelligent and thought out opinions in a hope that people will reply in-kind.

This means that out blog is open to anyone wishing to provide an educated opinion, anyone.

Here’s how it works:

  1. If you have an idea for a blog post, feel free to write it out in Word (include your hyperlinks and pictures in the document, and if you have other forms of media you’d like to publish, make a comment at the bottom with a url of where to get it), and then e-mail it to both Marc and Mike at mcase64@gmail.com and littlebuddha2004@yahoo.com . Send them to both addresses! Mike and I will decide together if your blog will make it on.
  2. Remember to include your name, title, and a one paragraph biography of who you are. A small picture can be included too if you so wish.
  3. Title your email Guest Blog Submission: Title of Blog, so that I don’t spam your ass!
  4. If we like your stuff, we’ll post your blog with your name, and then post your bio and picture here at the bottom of this page.
  5. Mike and I are considering (no promises you worms) that if a guest blogger is especially fruitful in repeat submissions, bringing that blogger on as a regular contributor and author.

Here is a hint: Mike and I don’t check our e-mail once every 5 minutes, so do a wider issue topic if you can, not just something that is featured as “breaking news” but in 3 hours won’t be so important. Also, try to keep it to issues of American politics or issues of American Concern. For example, Tibet is a bad topic, however, Tibet’s influence of the Chinese Olympics may be acceptable.

What does it mean to be young? We don’t know, generally this fits into a generational divide, but for the most part we are looking for progressive minds who are new to the political arena.

hi, just wanted to add that most of us americans, want to hear what both partys have to say about what they plan to do to make our country better, and stay with that focus, bashing each other only causes negative response in the voters minds, what they did to get to where they are is fine but quit competeing with each others intelegence. non of that really matters to the hurting american who needs answeres, the focus of the real reason they are running would be very much appreciated, the very best speech hillary clinton gave is when she became real at last with that final speach she gave in bringing her party back togeher. sorry but the fake smile i see most of the time on john mccains face just doesn’t cut it for me, put a realistic warm grin on your face or show no emotion at all, the american people read right thru that! i claim to be niether republican nor democrat, but the person that offers me the real deal to thier campaign will get the vote. speak it from the heart people, get rid of the bashing, and puffy pride. a true american voter

Hi. I’m new to the site, so hello, everyone. I’m probably a dyed-in-the-wool right winger and I don’t really consider myself an intellectual. I’m an average citizen who also gets tired of all the negative campaigning. What I look for is what they have stood for in the past. The Bible says righteousness exalts a nation and our country has fallen so far from righteousness. I’m not talking about infringing on people’s rights or bashing anyone who doesn’t believe the Bible, but honest-to-goodness moral behavior. After all, if there were no morals, we couldn’t legislate punishment for any crime. We have blurred so many lines and kicked God out of just about everything and we wonder why our country is in such a mess. I don’t know that either candidate is necessarily righteous, but let’s look at where they stand on righteous issues: McCain is pro-life, opposes human cloning, against the “death” tax that makes it so hard for prodigy inheriting a family business to stay in business. He is pro-American, supporting a ban on flag desecration. He supports a flat tax structure.
Obama supports partial birth abortions, opposes a ban on the “death” tax, opposes the ban on flag desecration, and opposes a flat tax structure. I’m not trying to tell anyone how to vote, but trying to clarify some of the unmentioned issues. It’s time to clear the fog so we know why we stand where we stand. We may not all agree but we need to be informed.

We accept all. If you want to write out your article in word with all the hyperlinks and pictures, and e-mail it to me, we’ll try you out and if you do well, we’ll invite you on full time.

In the 1930s and 40s, and at various other times, the word “progressive” was a euphemism for “communist” or “socialist.” What is the intent of the label now?

And why particularly do you ask for the views of one self-labeling segment of society? Is that a bit self-limiting? A tad narcissistic and parochial? Why not seek just ideas as such? Why a filter?

As to youth, it may be that human nature goes through predictable cycles and that the youth of one era is not remarkably different psychologically from the youth of another. If that is so, it would make more sense to listen to voices of any age — particularly on the part of anyone who advocates “progress” since nature’s own version of “progress” is aging.

If you want a glimpse of what your life is likely to be in the future, look at the life of someone older.

    Just a thought.

    Well,
    A. Anne, this page was written the day the blog was founded, and has not been given any thought in its composition since that time, so I’m not really wedded to the language.
    B. We called for progressive minds, not necessarily the historically labeled liberal progressive opinions. We’ve featured opinions here of everyone from libertarians to socialists – we’re not self-limiting in our professed ideologies.
    C. We listen to many voices – our comments section is open to anyone. We’ve sought out younger authors simply because the number of forums for those opinions is limited, but if you have other perspectives on things resulting from more time and experience, feel free to air them.
